Blessed Carlo Acutis was a remarkable young Italian teenager who died in 2006 at the age of 15. He has been widely referred to as “God’s influencer” and the “patron saint of the internet” due to his extraordinary use of computer skills and technology to spread the Catholic faith.

His Life and Faith

* Early Life: Born in London in 1991, Carlo’s family soon moved to Milan, Italy. His parents were not particularly devout Catholics, but Carlo showed a deep and passionate faith from a very young age, attending daily Mass and praying the rosary. He considered the Eucharist his “highway to heaven.”

* Computer Whiz: Even as a child, Carlo was exceptionally skilled with computers and programming, teaching himself college-level skills. He channeled his talents into creating websites and online exhibitions to share his faith with others.

* Apostle of the Internet: His most famous project was a website he created to catalog and document Eucharistic miracles around the world, which has been translated into multiple languages and is still used today. He also helped create websites for various Catholic organizations. His use of technology for evangelization was highly innovative for his time, long before the rise of social media as we know it today.

* A “Normal” Teen: Despite his profound faith and computer genius, Carlo was a very relatable teenager. He enjoyed playing video games (though he limited himself to one hour per week), watching movies, playing soccer, and spending time with friends. He also had a deep compassion for the poor and homeless, using his allowance to buy them food and sleeping bags.

* Death and Legacy: In October 2006, at the age of 15, Carlo was diagnosed with acute leukemia. He offered his suffering for the Pope and the Church. He died just a few days later, on October 12, 2006. His life and death, marked by serenity and faith, have inspired countless people around the world. Canonization Blessed Carlo Acutis has already been canonized. The ceremony took place on September 7, 2025, in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican. He was canonized along with Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. With his canonization, Carlo Acutis is now officially recognized as the first millennial saint of the Catholic Church.
