Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, known mononymously as Laufey, is an Icelandic singer-songwriter and musician. She rose to prominence in the early 2020s for her success as a jazz-inspired pop artist.

The Amazing Alma Deutscher
World premiere on May 23, 2025, at the Concordia Press Ball in Vienna’s Rathaus. Alma Deutscher conducting the Wiener Opernball Orchester. I was honoured to be asked to write a new Polka for the Concordia Press Club, following in the footsteps of Johann Strauss, who wrote many dances for the Vienna Press Club. I wanted to combine Strauss’s sound world with modern elements, so I decided to write a short introduction featuring a mélange of signature tunes from Austrian and international news broadcasts, and then incorporate one of the themes into the Polka itself.
